Flower Trivia:

• Lilies have one of the longest in-vase lifespans of any cut bloom, and a professional way to make them keep even longer is to clear out the pollen from their centres. This will also prevent staining on the petals.

• carnation can live for a very long time. There are carnation fossils discovered that date back 35 million years. The large carnation bush that covers the wall of the Cathedral of Hildesheim in Germany has been there for over a millennium.
